Oosthuizen, a village in the Dutch province of North Holland, formerly the seat of a Mennonite congregation. After the Beemster polder had been reclaimed (1608-1612), most members of the Oosthuzen congregation, being farmers, gradually settled on this polder; thus a new meetinghouse was built in Midden-Beemster in 1785. Thereupon in 1787 the old meetinghouse at Oosthuizen was sold. The congregation was then known as Beemster and Oosthuizen. In 1959 it was called Beemster.
