Anthonis van Cassele (also called Antheunis van Hellegoete or Anthonis van Gent) was a cloth-shearer who was burned as a martyr on 5 July 1559. On 5 July 1559 the first four mentioned, then on 7 August the next six persons, finally on 27 June 1560 the last two women mentioned were burned. There are two songs about these martyrs, namely, "[[Een Liedeken van XII vrienden van Gent|Een liedeken van XII Vrienden van Gent]]" <em>(Liedtboecxken van den Offer des Heeren, </em>No. 14) and another song that begins with the words, "Een eeuwighe vruecht die niet en vergaat," found in <em>[[Veelderhande Liedekens|Veelderhande Liedekens]] </em>(1569).
