Andries Langedul, an Anabaptist martyr, was born a leper in Flanders. He was beheaded at Antwerp on 8 November 1559, along with Laurens van der Leyen and Mattheus Pottebakker. Andries was captured while he was reading the Bible. His wife had just been delivered of a child, but could be taken away and thus did not fall into the hands of the persecutors. Andries was executed secretly within the Steen prison at Antwerp.
