Pieter Vettewarier, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, burned at the stake on the market place at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], Belgium, on 16 December 1558. Génard also lists Pie­ter van Hese, "vettewarier int Lelyken," who had been arrested on 11 June 1535, and sentenced on 24 December 1535, to a pilgrimage to Nicosie, because he had associated with the Anabaptists and other "Lutherans," that is, heretics.
