Georg Steinmetz (Jurriaen Steenmetser in Dutch Martyrs' Mirror), a German Anabaptist martyr, was beheaded in 1530 at Pforzheim in Württemberg. He left an effective admonition "for the comfort of all believers," found in the Martyrs' Mirror. It is not certain that he is actually the author of the hymn (No. 35 in the Ausbund), "Wir danken Gott von Herzen."
