Zacharias Theobald, a Lutheran clergyman, published a book in 1628 with the title, Warnungs schreiben vor den alten Wiedertäufern und neuen Schwärmern (new edition in 1702), in which he sought to prove that the Weigelians and Rosicrucians, etc., were Anabaptists and also to show "what misery and wretchedness they have caused" (Keller, 20 ff.). Calvary mentions this book in his catalog of rare and precious books (Berlin, 1907) on page 61 under the title, Widertäuferischer Geist . . . das ist: Glaubwürdiger und Historischer Bericht, was Jammer und Elend die alten Wiedertaüfer gestiftet und angerichtet (Nürnberg).
