Dominicus Abels "van der Vecht," a goldsmith of Utrecht, was a preacher and bishop of the Anabaptists, called "bishop of Gooiland." He preached in the Gooi near Amsterdam, baptized members in Amsterdam, and was beheaded there 30 March 1534. He was a man of great eloquence, and was one of the principal leaders on the journey from Amsterdam to Münster in March 1534. After his death his wife Janneken joined the revolutionary Batenburgers.
