Eyte (Ayte), a former Dutch Mennonite family living in the Zaan district near Amsterdam, of which a number of members were preachers. Pieter Pietersz belonged to the Waterlander denomination. Having preached in the congregation of Menniste buurt near Zijpe and returning by boat to Zaandam, on 10 November 1664, he was fatally struck by the falling mast when his boat collided with another boat. His three sons, Gerrit Pietersz Eyte (1656-1728), Dirk Pietersz Eyte (1663-1736), and Pieter Pietersz Eyte (1664-1744), all served as preachers of the Nieuwe Huys united Flemish and Waterlander congregation at Zaandam in 1680-1728,  1692-1736 (?), and 1692-1744, respectively.
