Vigilg (Vigil) Plattner (Plaitner), an Anabaptist martyr, previously a people's priest in Rattenberg in Tyrol, Austria, joined the Anabaptist movement. The severe persecution breaking out in North Tyrol made him withdraw to another place. He was probably on his way to Moravia, when he was seized at Schärding. He defied all attempts to convert him, "would not deviate to the right or to the left." Condemned to death, he was beheaded in 1529 at Schärding (at that time in Bavaria). He is the author of a hymn, in which he gives "testimony to God in the truth": "Wach auf, mein Seel, wann es ist an der Zeit" (with 17 stanzas).
