Vught, a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, about five miles south of 's Hertogenbosch. In 1533 a Sacramentist meeting was held near Vught attended by 200 persons; this shows that the new ideas had some adherents there. On 9 and 11 September 1538, eight Anabaptists, including Paulus van Drunen, were burned at the stake at Vught. They probably lived at 's Hertogenbosch, where Paulus van Drunen was the elder of the congregation. In 1544 Magdalena of Waterland, a Davidjorist, was executed here. Thereafter there are no traces of Anabaptists and Mennonites at Vught. In 1947 a Kring (circle) of Mennonites living at 's Hertogenbosch-Vught was founded, served at first by the pastor of Eindhoven, and since 1956 by the pastor of Nijmegen.
