Plonius (Pluen, Pleunis), an Anabaptist martyr, was drowned in the Rhine on 29 November 1561, at Cologne, Germany, with Johann von Orval. The account in van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror is brief and incorrect. He only mentions the year of execution and not the date; he reports that two other martyrs, Orvel and Jan, were executed with him. This must be a mistake; Orvel and Jan were the same person, namely, Johann von Orvall. Plonius was a tailor, a native of Emmerich, Germany.
