The author was an opponent of Jan Jacobsz and a follower of Pieter Jeltjes. He was a "bishop" of the Old Frisian Mennonite congregation at Bolsward, Dutch province of Friesland, a malt maker by trade, and no doubt the author of some other books, one of which was an attack on the Catholic doctrine of the Apostolic Succession, entitled Proeve op die Pauselijcke Afkomste ende succesie (2 vol., Hoorn, 1633).
