Thomas (Toenis) Arentsz, an Anabaptist martyr burned at the stake with two others 28 June 1553, at Leeuwarden in Friesland, Netherlands. He was (re)baptized, rejected the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, and believed "that all that is done in the (Catholic) church is idolatry." He persisted in his heresy, i.e., he died as a loyal member of the Mennonite church.
