The Plato Mennonite Church, located four miles east of Lagrange, [[Indiana (USA)|Indiana]], on U.S. Highway 20, began as an outpost of the [[Emma Mennonite Church (Topeka, Indiana, USA)|Emma Mennonite Church]]. The Emma congregation erected a frame meetinghouse in 1949 that was dedicated on 29 November that year. It became a self-supporting congregation in 1954.

The Plato Mennonite Church, located four miles east of Lagrange, Indiana, on U.S. Highway 20, began as an outpost of the Emma Mennonite Church. The Emma congregation erected a frame meetinghouse in 1949 that was dedicated on 29 November that year. It became a self-supporting congregation in 1954.

In 2003, the Plato Mennonite Church withdrew from the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA. A contributing factor to its withdrawal was the Conference's changing attitude towards accepting persons in same-sex relationships as members.
