There have been three Dutch Mennon­ite ministers by this name: Petrus Plantinus, serving as preacher at [[Schiedam (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Schiedam]] 1732-d.1741, Jan Plantinus (b. ca. 1783 at [[Dokkum (Friesland, Netherlands)|Dokkum]]), minister of [[Drachten en Ureterp (Friesland, Netherlands)|Drachten and Ureterp]] 1809-1850, and his son Doede Plantinus (b. 1815 at Drachten, d. 1890 at [[Holwerd (Friesland, Netherlands)|Holwerd]]), minister of Rottevalle-Witveen 1839-1845, [[Uithuizen (Groningen, Netherlands)|Uithuizen]] 1845-1847, Warga 1847-1849, and Holwerd-Blija 1849-1885. Jan and Doede Plantinus received their theological training at the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary (Kweekschool)|Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary]]. Doede Plantinus was the author of a catechetical book, <em>De Leer des Heils </em>(1st edition, no date of publication indicated, 2nd edition 1882), and <em>Blijf in hetgene gij geleer leerd hebt </em>(Drachten, 1864), a sermon to commemorate his 25 years in the minis­try.
