Horozanna wielka (i.e., Great Horozanna) is a Ruthenian village in the district of Rudki, about 22 miles south of Lemberg in Galicia. In 1850 some Mennonites from the first settlements at Einsiedel, Falkenstein, and Rosenberg, whose names were Bergthold, Ewy, Rupp, and Schmidt, bought about 800 acres of the Horozonna estate and settled there on individual farms with their families. According to a note in the oldest church record of the Galician Mennonites, the first prayer meeting was held in Horozanna on 25 April 1852. In 1857 the settlers called as their preacher Johannes van der Smissen and formed a subsidiary congregation. It did not exist long, however, for the farms were sold one by one and the families migrated to other localities in Galicia or to America. In 1931 only one Mennonite family was living in Horozanna, the Ewy family, who belonged to the Kiernica-Lemberg Mennonite Church.
