Claes Adriaens Proper of Rotterdam, Holland, was sentenced to death by the Court of Holland on 21 April 1558, because he had created a disturbance during the execution of the Anabaptist martyr Jan Hendriksz in a vain attempt to liberate this victim and others who were to be executed. It is not clear whether Claes Adriaens was an Anabaptist himself; likely he was not.
