Herman Didericus Tjeenk Willink, b. 21 July 1843, at Zwolle, d. 8 March 1917, at Haarlem, married to Henrietta Berendina van der Goot, a son of the above Wolterus E. J. Tjeenk Willink, studied theology at the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary (Kweekschool)|Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary]] in 1861-66, obtained his Th.D. degree at the University of Leiden in 1867, and was pastor of the Mennonite congregations of [[Tjalleberd (Friesland, Netherlands)|Tjalleberd]] 1868-71 and Vlissingen 1871-74. In 1874 he retired and became a partner in the bookstore and publishing house of A. C. Kruseman at Haarlem; the firm was then called Kruseman and Tjeenk Willink. In 1878 Tjeenk Willink became the sole owner. His son Herman Didericus Tjeenk Willink (1872-1945) later became his father's partner and was also a trustee of the Haarlem Mennonite congregation 1899-d.l945 and a representative on the [[Algemene Doopsgezinde Societeit|Algemene Doopsgezinde Societeit]] board 1927-41. The publishing house is now H. D. Tjeenk Willink and Son, Inc. The director since 1938 has been Ernest Lefebvre, b. 1905, a member and from 1949 a trustee of the congregation of Haarlem.
