Along the Lech regular hunts had been made (for example by the bailiff of Esting according to a report of 2 December 1527), before Martin Pasensner von Jesenwang received the commission, in the spirit of the simultaneous decision of the Swabian League, to hunt down the Anabaptists throughout the country by means of spies and put them into prison; and all officials were instructed to support him.
