Pain, an Anabaptist martyr of Swabia, South Germany, was executed with Wolfgang Esslinger, Martin Zehentmayer, and four other Anabaptists at Schwäbisch-Gmünd after a year's imprisonment in 1529 (the Martyrs' Mirror erroneously gives 1531 as the date). Three songs were written to commemorate their death.
