Paul Burckhardt (b. 9 January 1873, d. 6 May 1956) was principal of a Töchterschule at Basel. He was author of the excellent book, Die Basler Täufer. Ein Beitrag zur Schweizerischen Reformationsgeschichte (Basel, 1898), which presented an account of the Anabaptist movement in the canton of Basel until the 19th century, based on thorough research. In 1949 he published David Joris und seine Gemeinde in Basel, 106 pp., a reprint from Basler Zeitschrift für Geschichte und Altertumskunde.
