Jeronimo de Bosch was born 23 March 1740 at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], and died there 1 June 1811. He was an apothecary until 1773 and then became highest official in the Amsterdam secretariat. He was a Latin poet and highly regarded for his scholarship as well as his gentle and noble character. A poem of his on [[Napoleon I, Emperor of France (1769-1821)|Napoleon Bonaparte]] was translated into Dutch, French, and German.
