Nicasen (van) Aelmeers (Nicasius Aelmare) was an Anabaptist martyr burned at the stake at Bruges on 10 December 1561. He was the brother of Martijntgen van Alcmaers. He was named twice by van Braght (Martyrs' Mirror D 297, E 663, where the date of execution is given as 1562; and D 288, E 655, where the correct date is given, but his name is given as Nikasen Amare). Verheyden lists him as Nicasius Aelmaere, born at Steenwercke in Flanders. On 10 November 1561 a meeting of the Bruges congregation held just outside the city was surprised by the police and a number of the members were seized, bound two by two, and taken to prison.
