The congregation began services in 1976, and formally organized in 1978. The first building was occupied in 1978, with a subsequent building program in 1997. Art Regier is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through outreach by Coaldale Mennonite Church.
As the number of Coaldale Mennonite members from Lethbridge increased and as more Mennonites moved into Lethbridge, the need was felt for an independent congregation there.
