Andries Jacobsz (also called Adriaen Jacobsen), a [[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish]] [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, son of [[Jacob Dirks (d. 1568)|Jacob Dirksz]] and brother of [[Hans Jacopsens (d. 1568)|Hans (Jan) Jacobsz]], was burned at the stake together with them on 17 March 1568 at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]]. [[Braght, Tieleman Jansz van (1625-1664)|Van Braght]] relates that he was betrothed at the time he was captured and that his fiancee and also his sister were among the bystanders who witnessed the execution. The father, Jacob Dirksz, had some time previously fled with his family from [[Utrecht (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Utrecht]] in the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]] to [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]] in order to escape persecution.
