Arent van Essen, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, an elder and schoolteacher, was captured with his wife [[Ursel (d. 1570)|Ursula]], [[Neeltgen (d. 1570)|Neeltgen]], an old woman, and her daughter [[Tryntgen (d. 1570)|Tryntgen]], at [[Maastricht (Limburg, Netherlands)|Maastricht]] by the bailiffs of Alba, and after the most cruel torture all four were burned at the stake on 9 January 1570.

Arent van Essen, an Anabaptist martyr, an elder and schoolteacher, was captured with his wife Ursula (Ursel), Neeltgen, an old woman, and her daughter Tryntgen, at Maastricht by the bailiffs of Alba, and after the most cruel torture all four were burned at the stake. Arent and Ursel on 10 January 1570, and Neeltgen and Tryntgen on 24 January 1570.
