Van (der) Sleyden (Sleiden), a Dutch Mennonite family, formerly living at Leiden and Rotterdam, where they were members and often deacons of the Flemish congregations. Isaack Leensz van Sleyden was a deacon of the Leiden Flemish church in 1683-87, as was his brother Samuel from 1689. Their brother Laurens at the same time took part in the Collegiant movement, as did also most members of the Rotterdam branch of this family, for example, Anthony van Sleyden, the son of Barend van Sleyden, and Barendina Bredenburg. The Rotterdam van Sleydens were outstanding merchants (wine, textiles). Both the Leiden and Rotterdam branches died out in the 19th century.
