Jacques van de Gamerslach was a Dutch Mennonite preacher of the Flemish congregation at Leiden. In the afternoon service held on 27 April 1664 after a communion service had been held in the forenoon, T. J. van Braght, elder of Dordrecht, preached a sermon. Then before the whole congregation van de Gamerslach made a confession of his faith and was thereupon ordained as elder (leraer in den vollen dienst) by the laying on of hands by van Braght. Before this time he had been a preacher. After 23 July 1680 his name is no longer found in the records; so we may assume that he died about that time. Van de Gamerslach, who took a strict stand, e.g., repudiating marriage outside the church, successfully managed the union of his congregation with the conservative Zonists. He was one of the representatives of Leiden who signed the Oprecht Verbond van Eenigheydt in 1674, and was one of the buitenmannen (leaders from outside) called in to settle the schism at Utrecht 1661 against W. van Maurik and his friends, when he likewise represented conservative views.
