Jan Luykens (Lücken) was the head of one of the 13 Krefeld families who landed in Philadelphia on 6 October 1683, and settled in Germantown. He was a Quaker, a citizen of Krefeld, but was a native of Wesel. When the land was divided among the Germantown settlers by lot on 25 October 1683, Luykens as a farmer acquired 200 acres. Jan served as constable of Germantown in 1691-1695, as sheriff in 1694-1695, and died in 1744.
