He was born 24 September 1886 in Pickering, [[Ontario (Canada)|Ontario]], the son of Aaron W. and Agnes Wood Burkholder. He received a Biblical training at the Toronto Bible College. He served as pastor of the [[Breslau Mennonite Church (Breslau, Ontario, Canada)|Cressman Mennonite Church]] in [[Breslau (Ontario, Canada)|Breslau]], Ontario from 1913 until 1954 and was ordained as bishop in 1949. He also served as a teacher (1920-1956) and principal (1948-1954) in the [[Ontario Mennonite Bible School and Institute (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)|Ontario Mennonite Bible School]]. He received a Biblical training at the Toronto Bible College. He served as pastor of the Cressman Mennonite Church in Breslau, Ontario from 1913 until 1954 and was ordained as bishop in 1949.
