Verloove (Verlove), a Dutch family of Mennonite refugees, moving from [[Flanders (Belgium)|Flanders]], Belgium, to Rotter­dam and Haarlem, Holland, in the early 17th cen­tury or even earlier. An outstanding member of this family was Karel (Carel) Verloove, b. 1633 at Haarlem, d. ca. 1700 at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], who was a poet, whose verse was highly esteemed during his life­ time. Karel Verloove was a friend of Jan Luyken, who dedicated one of his poems to Verloove, and was well acquainted with [[Antonides, Joannes (1647-1684)|Johannes Antonides van der Goes]] and [[Plockhoy, Pieter Cornelisz (1620?-1700?)|Pieter Cornelisz Plockhoy]]. His brother Pieter Verloove also wrote verse. Members of this Verlo(o)ve family are still found in the Rotterdam congregation.
