Hermann Regewart (Regenwort), a Catholic priest of [[Warendorf (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)|Warendorf]] in Westphalia, Germany, who was converted by the [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] elder [[Maeren, Hendrik van (d. 1534)|Hendrik van Maeren]]  and joined the Anabaptists in early 1534. On 17 February of this year Regewart and some 30 other Anabaptists, all converted by van Maeren, accompanied him to [[Münster Anabaptists|Münster]]. Here Regewart became a follower of [[Jan van Leyden (ca. 1509-1536)|Jan van Leyden]], who sent him with seven others to [[Coesfeld (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)|Coesfeld]], Westphalia, as an emissary of his policy. On 17 February of this year Regewart and some 30 other Anabaptists, all converted by van Maeren, accompanied him to Münster. Upon arrival at Coesfeld they were all arrested; Regewart was executed there in January 1535.
