Pieter Balling, a member of the [[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish]] Mennonite congregation of [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]] and an adherent of [[Galenus Abrahamsz de Haan (1622-1706)|Galenus Abrahamsz]]. He published <em>Het Licht op den Kandelaar</em> (Amsterdam, 1662), <em>Verdediging van de Regering der Doopsgezinde Gemeente ... </em>(Amsterdam, 1663), and <em>Nadere Verdediging van de Regering der Doopsgezinde Gemeente</em> (Amsterdam, 1664), in which he defended Galenus and attacked his opponents. Pieter Balling, a member of the Flemish Mennonite congregation of Amsterdam and an adherent of Galenus Abrahamsz. He published Het Licht op den Kandelaar (Amsterdam, 1662), Verdediging van de Regering der Doopsgezinde Gemeente ... (Amsterdam, 1663), and Nadere Verdediging van de Regering der Doopsgezinde Gemeente (Amsterdam, 1664), in which he defended Galenus and attacked his opponents. Balling was also a good friend of the Jewish philosopher Baruch de Spinoza.
