The Cazenovia Mennonite Church, Lowpoint, Illinois, USA, began as a mission outpost of the Metamora Mennonite Church when in July 1949 it began a Sunday school in the former Cazenovia Christian Church, located about five miles north of Metamora. Jean D. Stivers, a former member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), had maintained a Sunday school at the church for 30 years after her denomination left. In 1949, she asked if the Mennonites would take over the work.

In 1957, the Illinois Mennonite Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC) recognized Cazenovia Mennonite Church as an independent congregation. It was organized on 3 February 1957 with 18 charter members. That year, the congregation carried out significant remodeling of its building.
