On 10-11 February 1535 a number of Anabaptists had a meeting in the Zoutsteeg at Amsterdam, Netherlands. Suddenly Henrick Henricxz Snyder, who was looked upon as a prophet, removed his clothing, threw it into the fire, and ordered those present to do the same. Infected by the mania of their leader they all obeyed and thereupon followed him, marching naked along the streets and crying, "Woe, woe, the wrath of God [is coming] over this city." They had no revolutionary intentions, because they had all thrown away their weapons. Soon the seven men and five women were apprehended. The women were executed on 15 May, the men on 25 February 1535, all by beheading.
