Pieter Claesz (Peter Coster), an Anabaptist martyr, who had been a sexton of the Catholic church at Zaandam, moved to Amsterdam, joined the Anabaptists there, being baptized by Pieter de Houtzager, and was ordained as a preacher by Bartholomeus, that is, Bartel Boeckbinder. During his trial he declared that he had baptized only one person. In March 1534 he was among the Anabaptists who sailed from Amsterdam to Bergklooster in order to go on to Münster.
