Dirk Rembrandtsz (1640-1683) of Nierop (i.e., [[Niedorp (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Niedorp]] in the Dutch province of North Holland), was a Mennonite cobbler who was an able astronomer. He is the author of the <em>Nieroper Graadboek </em>(a travel book for seamen), which went through fourteen editions. The book proved useful to mariners, and was republished in 1725 and 1730 in revised editions, edited by Jan Albertsz van Dam, the Mennonite preacher at Hoorn. He also published some books on astronomy and mathematics.
