Soetken Gerrits (Soetken van Roterdamme), died 26 December 1572, a Mennonite woman of Rotterdam, Holland, who was blind, composed a number of devotional hymns, which were collected by a certain J. C. (unknown) into a hymnbook entitled Nieu Gheestelijck Liedtboexken, commonly called Soetken Gerrits' hymnal. This hymnal, containing 102 songs without notes, was published by Gillis Rooman at Haarlem in 1592. The preface contains some biographical material on Soetken Gerrits. A second and a third edition, both containing 98 hymns without notes, appeared in 1618 and 1632, both at Hoorn. The booklet is very rare. Of the second edition there is no extant copy; of the first edition there is only one copy, found in the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Library (Bibliotheek en Archief van de Vereenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam)|Amsterdam Mennonite library]]. Of the third edition, as far as is known, three copies are extant, one in the Amsterdam Mennonite library, one in the library of the University of Gent, and one formerly in the private collection of D. F. Scheurleer at The Hague.

F. C. Wieder, who described the hymnal of Soetken Gerrits, is of the opinion that there was very probably an edition previous to that of 1592, printed shortly after her death. Karel Vos confused Vrou Gerrets van Medenblick with Soetken Gerrits of Rotterdam. The article Gerrets, Vrou, van Medenblick (The Mennonite Encyclopedia II, 502) is therefore in error.
