Pieter Langedult was born in 1640 at Haarlem, [[Netherlands|Holland]], and he died there 1677. He was a physician and preacher of the [[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish Mennonite]] congregation of Haarlem. Langedult, who was a champion of Collegiant principles, wrote the following books: <em>De Apostolice Outheyt van de Vryheyt van Spreken in de Vergaderingen der Christenen, tegens Ds A. van Dalens Alleen-spreken  verdedigt</em>  (Haarlem,  1672) ([[Dale, Anton van (1638-1708)|Anton van Dale]], his co-preacher at the Haarlem Flemish congregation, had published a book against the Collegiant practice of "free speaking" in the congregation), and <em>De nietigheyd der Chiliastery</em> (Haarlem, 1676), in which Langedult attacked the chiliastic ideas of the Collegiant leader [[Breen, Daniel de (1594-1664)|Daniel de Breen]]. He further published a Dutch translation of J. L. Wolzogen, <em>De werelose Christen</em> (Haarlem, 1676), a tragedy entitled <em>Christus lydende envcrheerlykt, het allerheylsaamste Treurspel </em>(3 vols., Haarlem, 1684; 3d ed. Amsterdam, 1714), <em>Christelyke Sedekonst ofte beoefeninge der Godsaligheyd</em> (Leiden, 1684), and <em>Aanteekeningen ofte Verklaaringen over de Klaagliederen van Jeremias</em> (Amsterdam, 1687). The last three books were published by his friend after his early death. Laurens Klinkhammer  edited his <em>Sedekonst</em>.
