Hans Köhler, an Anabaptist martyr, stemmed from Heyerode, a village near Mühlhausen in Thuringia, Germany. He was seized in November 1537, while he and Hans Scheffer were conversing on matters of faith with Fritz Erbe, who was a prisoner at Eisenach. After long cross-examinations which he had to endure under Justus Menius he was put to death at the end of January 1538.
