Hans (Hansken) Lisz, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Brugge, Belgium on 11 December (Martyrs' Mirror, 10 Dec.), 1561. He belonged to the congregation of Brugge, of whom a number of members were arrested while holding a meeting. Twelve of them were executed. Verheyden, who studied the documents, did not find the name of Hans Lisz among them; so he supposes that Hans Lisz may be identical either with Jehan (Hans) Cant of St. Winnoxbergen in Flanders, or with Jehan Bertheloot of Cassel, Flanders, who were both executed on 11 December 1561.
