Carlin, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] of [[Zürich (Switzerland)|Zürich]], probably identical with [[Brennwald, Karl (16th century)|Karl Brennwald]], who put the articles of his faith in writing, and read them to the city council of [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel]] on 30 June 1527. [[Oecolampadius, Johannes (1482-1531)|Oecolampadius]], on the order of the council, composed a written reply, which was printed under the title: <em>Underrichtung von dem Widertauff, von der Oberkeit, und von dem Eyd, auf Carlins N. Widertauffers Artickel. Antwort auff Balthasar Huobmeiers Büchlein wider der Predicanten gespräch zuo Basel, von dem Kindertauff </em>(Basel, 1527).

Carlin, an Anabaptist of Zürich, probably identical with Karl Brennwald, who put the articles of his faith in writing, and read them to the city council of Basel on 30 June 1527. Oecolampadius, on the order of the council, composed a written reply, which was printed under the title: Underrichtung von dem Widertauff, von der Oberkeit, und von dem Eyd, auf Carlins N. Widertauffers Artickel. Antwort auff Balthasar Huobmeiers Büchlein wider der Predicanten gespräch zuo Basel, von dem Kindertauff (Basel, 1527).
