Peter Planer (Plaver), an Anabaptist martyr, was imprisoned with Lamprecht Gruber, Hans Beck, Lorenz Schuester, Hans Taler, and Planer's servant Peter in Sterzing in South Tyrol, Austria (now Italy), in 1532. In spite of the use of the rack they were true to their faith and were therefore put to death by beheading. The letters they wrote in prison have been preserved.
