Breberen, a village near Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, where the Anabaptists were rather numerous in the 16th century. About 1534 the Wassenberg preachers, especially Johannes Campanus, Johannes Kloprijs, Dionysius Vinne, Slachtscaep, and Rol, were zealously active and won a large following (Rembert, 150). There were Anabaptists here until the middle of the 16th century, but then they had to yield to the pressure of increasing persecution (Rembert, 431, 436, 525). Much interesting light might have been thrown on this congregation at Jülich in the "Akten über Wiedertäufer in Breberen um 1554-10 bll. fol. Pap.," mentioned in Uebersicht über den Inhalt der Kleineren Archive der Rhein provinz, which were at that time in the possession of Pastor W. Lückerath in Waldfeucht (Heinsberg district, Rhenish Prussia), but could not be found in his literary estate.
