Waechlink (Waeckling) Dirks (also Walig [Walich, Walrius] Dirck Luytgens) of Winkel in the Dutch province of North Holland, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake on 7 July 1558, at The Hague together with Adriaen Pieters and Maerten Cornelisz. Waechlink was (re)baptized in 1538, arrested shortly after, but pardoned. Shortly before his arrest in 1558 he had publicly opposed the Catholic priest of Winkel, saying that the Mass was idolatry, and that in the Lord's Supper they should take "common bread of the table" as the apostles received from the hands of Christ and as is the practice of Sacramentists and Anabaptists.
