Täuferurbar, an official Bernese register of Anabaptist property confiscated in the canton, established by a mandate of 23 February 1729, now in the Bernese Staatsarchiv. This register affords insight into the methods by which countless Anabaptist families were practically ruined by the violent measures of the government. One purpose of the register was to give the authorities information as to the spread and development of Anabaptism at this time in order to have help in suppressing it. Another purpose was to give an accounting of what was done with the confiscated property.
