Hans Bartel was an Anabaptist martyr, a weaver by trade, was seized with Hans Wucherer in Bavaria and subjected to a trial on the rack. Seven times the priests came into the prison and tried to turn them from their faith. But they remained steadfast through all the torture inflicted upon them, and were burned at the stake in 1537 at Burghausen am Inn.
