Kratzer is a Mennonite family originally found at Aeschi in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. In 1711 members of this family immigrated to the Netherlands because of persecution and settled near the town of Groningen. Anthony Kratzer (Kratzer, Kratser), who was born in Switzerland, was an elder of the Nieuwe Zwitsers congregation near Groningen 1740-1779. Others served as deacons both in the Nieuwe and Oude Zwitsers church.
