On 4 August 1914, the Herold store building and stock were destroyed by a fire. The company was then moved to 722 Main Street, where a new building was erected. The company was dissolved 1 December 1919, and the store building sold to H. P. and C. E. Krehbiel. Final liquidation of the assets of the company was made in May 1926.
