Erasmus Alberus was born in 1500 in Bruchenbriicken in Wetterau, [[Germany|Germany]], and died 5 May 1553. As a follower of [[Luther, Martin (1483-1546)|Luther]] he attained the office of superintendent of churches in Neu-Brandenburg (Mecklenburg). He wrote <em>Die Fabeln </em>(1534), which were republished in 1892 by Wilhelm Braune in the <em>Neudrucke deutscher Literaturwerke, </em>with an introductory biographical sketch. This book is one of the most malicious slanders against the Mennonites, a collection of every kind of vile report.
